The Standing Committee of the National Assembly on Textile Industries has expressed concern over the non-availability of cotton yarn, directed the ministry to take measures, ensuring adequate supply of yarn in the local market. The committee met under Haji Muhammad Akram Ansari in the Parliament House here on Monday to discuss the issue of price hike non-availability of yarn in the country.
Textile Industry Ministry Secretary Waqar Masood Khan informed the committee that the upcoming meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Textile would consider steps to control the yarn price increase in the regulatory duty. He further said that every year about 25 percent of the yarn cotton were exported, while this year the export expected to be 30 percent, which could problems f the local industries.
He informed the committee that cotton yarn in China had damaged due to which the dem f Pakistani cotton yarns had increased. Besides, 43 percent increase in the cotton yarn prices was another reason behind the large-scale export, Waqar added. The committee viewed that the interest of all the stakeholders, including the grower, spinner exporter, should be protected.
Moreover, the crisis of the non-availability of yarn might be dealt with judiciously to overcome the issue save million of peoples unemployment. The meeting was attended by National Assembly members Chaudhry Saeed Iqbal, Mahmood Hayat Khan, Tochi Khan, Syed Akhonzada Chitran, Sardar Talib Hassan Nakai, Abdul Rashid Godal, Tariq Shabbir Waseem Akhtar Sheikh.
